Fentanyl is the drug that seems to end up in every single black-market drug. Now, it seems that fentanyl has made its way into questionable vape supplies.
In an Iowan high school, a THC vape carried by a student was suspected to be laced with fentanyl. While a field test detected both THC and fentanyl in the cartridge, the following lab test stated that the vape had THC and no fentanyl.
This would not be the first, or only incident where a vape was suspected to be contaminated with fentanyl. In November 2021, there was an incident in a Tennessee high school where a vape was contaminated with fentanyl, but none was found in the pen’s liquid cartridge. Three school staff members were exposed and had to be hospitalized for treatment. It is unclear whether or not that particular vape was a THC vape or a nicotine vape.
Despite how difficult it can be to find proper supplies nowadays, these events stress the importance of knowing where your supplies are sourced from, and to avoid black-market supplies.
