When people talk about regional tobacco varieties, most people will think about Cuban cigars or Virginia tobacco. Brazilian tobacco is not the first thing that comes to mind. Many people have never even heard of Brazilian tobacco at all. So what is Brazilian tobacco like?
Like many other plants, tobacco has different flavors depending on where it is grown. So at its simplest, Brazilian tobacco is grown in Brazil. Most of Brazilian tobacco is grown in Santa Cruz do Sul, a region in South Brazil. However, there are other tobacco producing regions in Brazil, each with its climate and tobacco flavors. Overall though, Brazilian tobacco is described as a dark tobacco with a smooth, sweet taste.
Despite tobacco production only taking a small percentage of their land, Brazil is one of the largest producers of tobacco in the world. Most of their tobacco is exported to the European Union and to Asia. Only 13% of their tobacco crop is exported to North America, which may explain why it is relatively unheard in the United States. Additionally, there are anecdotes of sellers being discouraged to label their tobacco as “Brazilian,” making it difficult for the average buyer to be aware they are purchasing Brazilian tobacco.
Despite the flowery stories of Brazilian tobacco processing plants and artful descriptions of the sorting process that romanticize and advertise the crop, it is still difficult to hear about Brazilian tobacco if you’re not looking for it in the first place.
Though it is a relatively obscure tobacco in the U.S, Ruthless has captured the dark, sweet flavor of Brazilian tobacco in our latest juice. If you were wondering what on Earth to expect from it, here it is. If you’re in the mood for trying out a new tobacco flavored vape, or are now curious about what Brazilian tobacco tastes, like, check it out!
